You are what you eat - maintaining a healthy diet is good for you physically and mentally.Rituals and celebrations are absolutely necessary for binding the team together - be generous for such occasions.Be inclusive and respectful, you never know someone you disregard may save you or outperform you one day.If you want to achieve something great, focus on building a high performing, diverse, and collaborative team - tolerating incompetence, people with high ego, or assholes in the team are all guaranteed recipes for disaster.Below are some of my key takeaways from the story: The crew eventually found an escape route and returned back to civilization in 1899.Īlong with many scientific discoveries, this journey brought back many invaluable management lessons and it has often been cited as a reference when NASA designed their space exploration programs. The mission failed after the ship got stuck in the thick ice throughout the harsh Antarctic winter and the team lost 2 crew members with the remaining being either insane or half-dead onboard. I just finished reading this remarkable book >, detailing the 1987 Belgica expedition Adrien de Gerlache took to be the first person to reach the magnetic south pole.

6/24/2023 0 Comments Baa baa smart sheepAlthough the characters are simple, the pages are dynamic and humorous. All of Rowan Sommerset’s illustrations are wonderfully expressive. The characters are very simple, and include Baa Baa, the trickster, and Quirkey Turkey, his victim. The dialogue between Quirky Turkey and Baa Baa is enough to make readers giggle. Quirky Turkey comes along and starts asking questions about what Baa Baa insists are “smarty tablets” that make one “more intelligent.” Baa Baa convinces Quirky Turkey that these tablets are for him, and that they will make Quirky Turkey smarter. It is perfect for elementary school children who find tricks and potty jokes to be hilarious! The book begins with Little Baa Baa, who is bored. Baa Baa’s tricks warrant the warning on the front cover.īaa Baa Smart Sheep, published by Candlewick Press in 2016, is a book about childhood mischief and silliness. Even on the dedication page, the mischievous Baa Baa can be seen causing trouble. Unique and full of humor, Baa Baa Smart Sheep by Mark and Rowan Sommerset is a great choice for Trendy Tuesday. 6/24/2023 0 Comments Black is a rainbow colorThis rainbow type is purely caused by light being refracted when entering a droplet of water and reflecting inside on the droplet's back, and again refracted when leaving it.Ĭonsidering the double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc and has the order of its reversed colours, consisting of red on the inner side of the arc. The arc depicts red on the outer part and violet on the inner side in a primary rainbow. However, the observer usually sees only an arc formed by illuminated droplets over the ground and on a line centralized from the Sun to the observer's eyes. Also, it can form by water droplets present in the atmosphere. Rainbow refers to a kind of arc visible in the sky, caused by the refraction and dispersion of the Sun's light by the rain. In addition, the rainbow colours are soothing, and each colour has its meaning. A Rainbow can be described as a natural phenomenon that creates a magical effect on the environment. Every one of us loves the rainbow that forms while or after the rain. Katherine Kellgren does an excellent job of all the difficult language and characters. It is very well written, emotional without being overly sentimental.Īgain the narration is excellent. When Aralorn believes her father is dead, it was really moving. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? The revelation of her being surrounded by family is a real eye opener into her character, especially after being so isolated previously. The scene where Aralorn returns home is excellent. It really touched me, and was very well written. Without wishing to spoil the surprise, the "trick" Aralorn plays on Wolf that reveals a lot about how much they have been through together is my favourite moment. What was one of the most memorable moments of Wolfsbane? The enemy, the "bad guy", is so dark and insidious that it is a really interesting journey with Aralorn and Wolf to find out how to defeat him. It was not a traditional story, in that there is no massive battle in the usual sense. 6/24/2023 0 Comments Little witch bennettLast but not least, June also marks the return of both Foo Fighters and Lucinda Williams after life-altering events, and the ultimate release of Bob Dylan ’s 2021 concert film soundtrack, Shadow Kingdom. June is an important moment in the year, as it brings us Pride Month, Black Music Month and Juneteenth. 6/24/2023 0 Comments Kimi no na wa studio ghibliThe film is a Fantasy-Romance which follows the lives of two teenagers in Japan, a boy living in Tokyo and a girl living in a rural area, as they intermittently and accidentally swap bodies over what appears to be a few months due to a mostly unexplained magical phenomenon. Shinkai has long been dubbed “the new (Studio Ghibli’s) Hayao Miyazaki” despite his own protests, and the visuals and stunning cinematography of Kimi no Na Wa certainly live up to that title. Having said that, on with the review!Īs someone who went through a brief but incredibly intense anime phase/obsession a couple of years ago, it was impossible for me to stay away from Makoto Shinkai’s most recent offering given the unrelenting hype surrounding it in the western anime community, and Japan itself. So I am a little overexposed and my contrarian nature won’t let me simply praise Kimi no Na Wa along with everyone else, so I might be nit-picking. Everyone I know over the age of 10 has seen it. First things first, I live in Japan, and this movie was the most popular film of the year here by far. 6/23/2023 0 Comments Café con lychee
